The trial aerial culling of some 270 brumbies in the Kosciuszko National Parks had adopted the policy of using rapid repeated shootings to produce a humane death to the brumbies in the shortest period of time.

A recent article has drawn attention to the growing numbers of brumbies in the KNP. This is a hotly debated issue partly because of the damage done to the fragile soil conditions at the higher altitudes.
